Texas College Cup      

START TIME

All brackets at 1:30 PM. Please make sure you check-in by 1:00 PM- we will start player orientation at 1:15 PM followed by the National Anthem shortly after.  We will start ON TIME so please do not be late.  Once your match is called, you will have 10 minutes to report to the tournament desk and start the match.  We will forfeit matches if people do not show up after their match is called.  

Food AND water

Water - We will NOT be providing bottled water.  There will be a water bottle refilling station onsite.  Please plan accordingly and either bring your water bottle OR enough supply to last you 5-6 hours.  ONLY water will be allowed on the courts.  Gatorade or other colored drinks will not be permitted ON COURT. Food - You are allowed to bring in outside food into the venue.  We will have snack available for the competitors.

 

USA Pickleball Rules

 

We will be operating under the USA Pickleball Rules and Regulations.  It is the players responsibility to know and understand the rules of engagement.  We will have a certified referee on hand to help with any questions.  You might (not guaranteed) have a referee if you are in the medal rounds. Other than that, all play is regulated by players, with the help of a court monitor.  If there is any questionable play that occurs during your match, you have the option to stop play and call the tournament director to your court.  We want all play to be fair and in line with USA Pickleball rules. 

 

VENUE

 

We will be playing at the Omar Smith Instructional Tennis Facility on campus.  There is an Aggie baseball game at 2 pm Saturday. If you park in lot 100D you will need to show a valid TAMU parking permit or pay $5 cash.  You should be able to park in lot 95 (behind the PEAP building) for free and walk across the grass to the Omar Smith Instructional Courts.You can park in Lot 100 D OR park behind the PEAP building (lot 95).  Either lot will work.    

 

FORMAT

 

All brackets will be playing pool play.  For the Open and Recreational divisions, there are 4 teams.  You will play pool play and then be seeded into a single elimination bracket to determine Gold, Silver, and Bronze.  For the Competitive division, we will have 3 pools.  The top 2 teams in each pool will advance to the single elimination bracket.  2 wild card spots will also be available.  Placement (or seeds) are determined by Wins first, and then point differential.  All scoring will be rally scoring.

The 2024 Texas College Cup will be March 23 at the Omar Smith Instructional Courts at Texas A&M University in College Station. Matches start at 1:30 pm. Teams check-in starts at 1 pm. Gate will open at 12:30 pm.

There are 3 divisions of play.

Recreational (3.5 ratings below - usually beginners to novice players), 

Competitive (3.5-4.0 ratings -  usually intermediate level players), 

Open (Highest rated player category; this competition is advanced Pickleball)

Team Registration

Teams are made up of two male and two female athletes. All participants must be students enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college or university during the 2023-24 academic year.

Each match consists of a men's doubles game, women's doubles game and 2 mixed doubles games.
